Selection Criteria

AI Character Awards selects across the following five evaluation axes. Criteria are not fixed; they are continuously reviewed and updated as the AI character field evolves.

The Five Axes

1. Character Identity

Whether the AI character maintains a unique and consistent identity. We evaluate continuity and clarity of personality, worldview, and stance.

2. Technical Implementation

Soundness and ambition of the technical foundation. We do not equate technical newness with quality; we evaluate the appropriateness of technical choices for the design intent.

3. Audience Experience

The quality and depth of engagement with viewers and users. We value responsiveness, consistency, and growth in audience interaction.

4. Cultural Impact

Influence and reach as activity. We do not rely solely on numerical reach; we also evaluate impact on the AI character field and the broader culture.

5. Sustainability

Sustainability of activity. We evaluate operational stability and the ability to maintain quality over a multi-year horizon.

Selection Process

  1. Candidate selection based on year-round research
  2. First selection meeting — narrow each category to at most five candidates
  3. Second selection meeting — final selection by deliberation across the five axes
  4. Public announcement and award ceremony (December 12, 2026)

On Quantitative Metrics

Follower counts and view counts are treated as reference information. They are not the sole basis for selection. We emphasize composite views, including the quality of the character and the depth of interactions.

On Disclosure

Selection criteria are disclosed in advance. Detailed deliberation notes from the selection meetings are not disclosed, but a brief reason for selection (citation) is published.
